Polymetric Brick Wall Patterns and Two-Dimensional Substitutions
نویسنده
چکیده
Polymetric walls are walls built from bricks in more than one size. Architects and builders want to built polymetric walls that satisfy certain structural and aesthetical constraints. In a recent paper by de Jong, Vinduška, Hans and Post these problems are solved by integer programming techniques, which can be very time consuming for patterns consisting of more than 40 bricks. Here we give an extremely fast method, generating patterns of arbitrary size.

Topology optimization using non-conforming finite elements: three-dimensional case
As in the case of two-dimensional topology design optimization, numerical instability problems similar to the formation of two-dimensional checkerboard patterns occur if the standard eight-node conforming brick element is used. Motivated by the recent success of the two-dimensional non-conforming elements in completely eliminating checkerboard patterns, we aim at investigating the performance o...
متن کاملEntropy of 2+1 dimensional de Sitter space in terms of brick wall method
We calculate the statistical entropy of a scalar field on the background of three-dimensional De Sitter space in terms of the brick wall method and finally derive the perimeter law of the entropy. ∗Electronic address: [email protected] 1 Entropy of black holes has an universal area law [1] and the entropy of the well-known Schwarzschild black hole satisfies the area law by means of thermal...

Architecture is an art, which has always been enriched by the cumulative experiences of people in different ages. The historical and traditional urban fabric after a long passage of time some has possessed a balance that in the best way responds to the climatic and cultural circumstances. The rich urban fabric of Dezful City is no exemption and its Brick Architecture is an outstanding feature o...
متن کاملEntropy of Scalar Field in 3+1 Dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom de Sitter Black Hole Background
We consider the thermodynamics of minimally coupled massive scalar field in 3+1 dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom de Sitter black hole background. The brick wall model of ’t Hooft is used. When Schwarzschild like coordinates are used it is found that two radial brick wall cut-off parameters are required to regularize the solution. Free energy of the scalar field is obtained through counting of sta...

We consider the thermodynamics of minimally coupled massive scalar field in 3+1 dimensional Taub-NUT background. The brick wall model of 't Hooft is used. When Schwarzschild like coordinates are used it is found that the usual radial brick wall cutoff parameter is required to regularize the solution. Free energy of the scalar field is obtained through explicit counting of states. It is found th...
